Iconic and Historic Marylebone Town Hall
MARYLEBONE TOWN HALL WEDDINGS
The Iconic Marylebone Town Hall, officially known as Westminster Register Office, is a prominent civic building located in the Marylebone area of Westminster, London. The town hall serves as a venue for civil ceremonies, weddings, and other events.
The building dates back to the early 20th century and has historical significance. It was designed by Sir Edwin Cooper and completed in 1920.
The town hall has architectural features that reflect the styles of the time, including neoclassical and Edwardian Baroque elements.
A HISTORY OF MARYLEBONE TOWN HALL WEDDINGS
The Iconic status of Marylebone Town Hall not only relates to its architecture and history but also its long list of celebrity weddings:
The One of the most famous weddings was that of Sir Paul McCartney, the legendary musician and former member of The Beatles, and Nancy Shevell. The ceremony took place in October 2011, and Marylebone Town Hall was chosen for its historical significance and intimate setting.
n 1997, Marylebone Town Hall was the venue for the wedding of Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher and actress Patsy Kensit. Their marriage ceremony attracted significant media attention.
The building’s historical and architectural significance led to its Grade II listing, recognizing its importance in the architectural heritage of London.
The town hall underwent careful restoration and adaptive reuse to preserve its historical features while allowing for modern functionality.
The restoration aimed to maintain the building’s charm while updating facilities to meet contemporary standards.

The Westminster room (100 guest capacity), the Soho room (20 guest capacity) and the Marylebone room (15 guest capacity) are the most popular with others being available mainly for smaller weddings.
Whether a large ceremony or elopement beautifully decorated rooms are offered and all ceremonies are given time on the iconic steps for confetti and wedding photos.

WHERE TO PARTY – WEDDINGS AT MARYLEBONE TOWNHALL
With only ceremonies being offered at Marylebone you will need to find a venue if you want to have a reception party afterwards. For smaller weddings or elopements there are loads of pubs and restaurants all within walking distance to enjoy a glass of champagne or celebratory meal.
For larger Wedding parties its best to hire an iconic route master bus and head of to any of Londons weddings venues and here are some of my favourites:
More Marylebone Town Hall Weddings
The Iconic steps and pillars offer fantastic wedding photography opportunities. But I always like to take my couples for a relaxed walk through the cobbled streets and Mew’s that Marylebone is famous for.
