SIGNING OFF 2024 IN A PONDERING KIND OF MOOD WITH A LOOK BACK AT MY FAVOURITE IMAGES AND TRYING TO ANSWER THE AGE OLD QUESTION: CAN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY ACTUALLY BE COOL?

SO LETS PUT ON OUR CLASSICS AND HAVE A

LITTLE DANCE SHALL WE ?

SO CAN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY BE COOL?

According to the overlords at Google “Cool Wedding Photographer” is a pretty high ranking search term. But TBH it’s one I struggle with as surely the least cool thing to do is label yourself as cool……am I right?

But here lies the problem. And as I look back on another year hanging out at, dare I say, a load of cool weddings I find myself once again slightly confused about where I sit in such a label hungry industry.

Since about 2015 I have settled on being an Alternative Wedding photographer…..but now EVERYONE is???? And even that term can confuse ( maybe portraying the need for couples to be heavily tattooed and marching around, holding smoke bombs and flicking the bird at whoever points a camera at them 😉 )

But to me it always meant an Alternative to the traditional, cringey or expected style of Wedding Photography. An alternative to that overly serious, sugar coated, cookie cutter perfection in the form of something creative, humorous and honest. (check out my instagram to see what I mean)

“I looked at so many wedding photographers and just didn’t feel like they would get “us” BUT then I found your work and it connected with us both immediately”

This kind of thing paraphrases what so many couples say to me…….but how to condense that into a punchy google friendly search term. I give up…….any ideas?????

So in short Wedding Photography can be any label you, the viewer, choose for it. The simple fact you’re here and taking an interest is COOL with me 😉
